The annual interdisciplinary event will be taking place at L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library on April 19, 2025 at 4pm.

I will be working in collaboration with Link Sanders, Charlotte Gutzmer, Megan Miller, J. M. Lee, and Luke Tacket.

Consortium's Holiday Quartet

​

Taking place at Acoustic Cafe at 7:30pm, composers of Consortium will have their original pieces performed surrounding the idea of celebrating the holidays. Y A K I is one of five composers for the event and his piece is titled "Snowfall" and is about a gentle snowstorm that turns bitter and cold. He is the President of the group, and this year we decided to write for a string quartet. Don't miss out,especially since the event is FREE!

Consortium's "Culmination 2024: Biomes"

"Les Impressions d'Eau Claire"

​

“Les Impressions d’Eau Claire” combines visual art, in the form of a mural, with musical compositions for solo piano, that have all been inspired by six of Eau Claire, WI’s natural locations that are tied together by water. The mural was painted during Summer 2023 while the album was composed by Jacob “Yaki” Hallett. The piano compositions were later performed live by Naomi O’Leary on October 25th, 2023, at the university of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in Schofield Hall.

"Drawing on Narratives" Exhibit Opening reception

​​

The Foster Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present “Drawing on Narratives,” an exhibition featuring works by artists Melissa Cooke Benson, Jason Cytacki, Hayley Prestifilippo and Sohail Shehada. The exhibition will be on view from Feb. 3-March 12, with an opening reception from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.

 

Opening reception: Thursday Feb. 2, 6-7:30 p.m. in the Foster Gallery. Artist Haley Prestifilippo will facilitate an audience “drawing performance” during the reception. The reception also will feature live music by UW-Eau Claire student composers studying under Hsu:


Jacob “Yaki” Hallett composed “A Simple Heirloom” inspired by Prestifilippo’s drawings.

Lee and Hallett also collaborated on “The Boy King” in response to Shehada’s “Operetta.” The music is composed using a three-part story based on the impressions each face in the drawing gave the composers.

"Expressions of Nature"

​

A new collaborative art installation created by students and faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire officailly opens Wednessday, Oct. 12. 2022, in Haas Fine Arts Center, with a reception starting at 6:15 p.m. in the Haas Lobby. The piece, titled "Expressions of nature," was created during the summer of 2022 and was made possible by support from the Freshwater Collaborative Grant from the state of Wisconsin and project funding by the UW-Eau Claire Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

 

The student team who worked on the interactive installation includes: Jacob Hallett (YAKI), a senior music composition major from Waukesha. Megan Miller, a senior drawing and painting major from Bloomington, Minnesota. Jenny Olson, senior illustration major from Luck. Jack Orta, a junior photography major from Bloomington, Minnesota.Faculty mentors were: Dr. Gary Don, professor emeritus of music and theatre arts. Mykola Haleta, assistant professor of art & design. Jyl Kelley, professor of art & design.

The first annual Culmination features local visual artists and composers where they create interdisciplinary works together. Composers and musicians worked together with local student artists to make collaborative pieces. Located in the Foster Gallery with performances at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
